Fig 1: An adult male presented with a retained upper left deciduous cuspid. Over the years, this tooth eroded. The lower cuspid eventually supra-erupted. In order to replace the upper cuspid with a dental implant, the lower cuspid had to be intruded.
Fig 2: Braces were placed on the lower cuspid in an attempt to intrude it. Intruding a lower cuspid is difficult to do because of the inherently long root on lower cuspids and the dense bone of the mandible
Fig 3: Two mini dental implants were placed for additional anchorage.
Fig 4: The lower braces and mini implants were removed. The upper deciduous cuspid was replaced with a dental implant.
